1.  Discuss Schnabel's point (in your own words) about painting vs film.  - In terms of Schnabel’s point of painting vs film, he stated that when it comes to film it’s mostly around motion pictures and also shows a rich diversity in terms of visual art forms, since it shows a cinematic sequence as well. In terms of painting, it gives it expressions, in terms of what the painter wants to create on the canvas as well, also shows how bold or vibrant the artist can be in terms of color scheme.  2. Discuss the mountain climber metaphor - and how it is different / similar to other artists we have discussed. - The mountain climber metaphor is treated is used in the art world in terms of discussions, going through an artist’s life and his progression, and moving on up, going to bigger and better heights, similar to how a climber/hiker would go up a mountain. Artists must start their journey by climbing the said mountain, working on improving their artwork, getting critiqued ...

  1. Who made this documentary? Why should we believe their story? If you never see the narrator but only the interview subjects does it change the way you perceive the stories? - The people who made the documentary is BBC. We should believe in the stories the documentary provides, it shows us with some backstory behind what the world was like when Seurat was still around, how the artwork was like back then, taking a more modern turn as well. In terms of the documentary as a whole, the interview subjects gave us some good information throughout the film, besides the narrator to showing up, I just appreciate that other subjects are present and not just one person. 2.Have you ever seen this painting for real? Tell me about it. OR  - I have seen Seurat’s Saturday Afternoon piece at the Art Institute in Chicago. Really great to see that large piece of artwork up close in person. In my other classes, there are times where we went to the art institute to either view at the entire bu...

  1. Which is your favorite Van Gogh self-portrait painting? Why? How was it made? How does it control your eye? When you look, what do you see first? second? Does it bother you that Van Gogh refused to be photographed? Which is your favorite sunflower painting? Why? How was it made? How does it control your eye? When you look, what do you see first? second? What does it mean to you? - To me, my favorite self portrait painting of Van Gogh is his his self portrait with a gray felt hat. I liked how he made his self portraits, using different color schemes when it comes to different self portraits of himself as well, he also uses scatter dots and colors in the background, also using overall reduction of the size of brush marks when making said self portraits. Whenever I see his self portraits, the first thing that catches my eye is the different color of brushstrokes used in the piece, and it’s the first thing I noticed, that and the different color chimes used for each self...

1: Why is Manet considered the father of Impressionism? - Edouard Manet is considered to be the Father of Impressionism  because of his art style that’s used in his artwork, mainly being Impressionism. His art style takes a more bold approach when it comes to making his paintings, he also uses a more contemporary subject matter, mostly using modern life and having the freedom to paint whatever he wants besides the already mentioned modern life. Manet would also use lighting in his work, along with using a different approach with his brush strokes as well. 2: What is Manet's most significant contribution to art? - To me, Edouard Manet’s most significant contribution to the art world is building the bridge that connected between two of the most important art movements during the 19th century, and those two movements would be Realism and Impressionism. In terms of Realism, when he first arrived in the world of art, he focused mainly on realism, mostly on contemporary life and h...
